Text of Psalm 71
Lord, you are my refuge, my safe haven in times of trouble.
I turn to you with unwavering hope, trusting in your eternal mercy.
You have been my fortress from my youth; I have relied on you since I was young.
So now in my old age, I will still declare your mighty deeds and your faithful love.
You are my strength and my hope, Lord; I put my trust in your everlasting promises.
From my earliest days, I have leaned on you, and you have carried me through every trial.
Now I am a witness to your goodness, a testament to your faithfulness.
My mouth will praise you continually, announcing your greatness to all who will listen.
Do not forsake me in my aging years; spare me from disgrace and rejection.
My enemies seek my downfall, but I cling to your protection.
I have become a symbol of your justice and your saving power.
Do not turn away from me; be my strength and my shield.
Let my mouth declare your righteousness, all day long telling of your salvation.
But I will hope always in you, for you are my confidence.
My lips will praise your name continually, as long as I live.
You are my refuge and my hope, my strength and salvation.
You have taught me from my youth, and I testify to your mighty works.
Even when I am old and gray, I will still proclaim your justice and faithfulness.
Your righteousness, O God, reaches to the heavens; you have done great things.
Turn to me with compassion, and restore me, so I may declare your praise.
Increase my strength, and I will praise you more and more.
My mouth will proclaim your righteousness, from generation to generation.
